This week the final straw for the TVNOW event series “Sisi” fell. The 6-part series was filmed over four months in Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Hungary and finally in Germany. Here the Würzburg residence served as a backdrop for the elaborate TVNOW production, as did the Berchtesgadener Land. The event series takes a new look at the life of Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary, known as Sisi, who made history as Empress and became a legend as a film character. The broadcast is planned for the end of 2021 on TVNOW – soon to be RTL+ – and later on RTL.
Alongside Dominique Devenport and Jannik Schümann in the leading roles as Sisi and Franz, Désirée Nosbusch can be seen as Archduchess Sophie, Franz’s mother. Also in the main cast: Tanja Schleiff (role: Countess Esterhazy), Paula Kober (Fanny), Julia Stemberger (Sisi’s mother, Duchess Ludovica in Bavaria), David Korbmann (Count Grünne), Pauline Rénevier (Duchess Helene “Néné” in Bavaria, sister of Sisi), Yasmani Stambader (Lajos Farkas), Giovanni Funiati (Count Andrassy) and Marcus Grüsser (Sisi’s father, Duke Max in Bavaria).
The 6-part TVNOW event series is produced by Story House Pictures. The producers are Jens Freels and Andreas Gutzeit, who also acts as showrunner. With BETA Film, which is taking over global sales, another strong partner is bringing its experience to the project. The ORF is also a cooperation partner and is supported by the FFA Filmförderanstalt and the FFF Bayern. Directed by Sven Bohse. Elena Hell and Robert Krause wrote the scripts. Robert Krause and Andreas Gutzeit are the head authors. In the RTL media group, Markus Böhlke is the editor in charge and Sylke Poensgen is the executive producer, under the direction of Hauke Bartel.
