Story & Infos

Johannes Brahms, praised as the Messiah of German music, was the last of his kind. Deeply rooted in tradition, he was a visionary, ahead of his time and looking far into the future. For this, he was humiliated by the public and ridiculed by artists. The docudrama Johannes Brahms. The Lion’s Paw tells the story of the composer, whose demands on himself were relentless. Growing up in modest circumstances, he met Clara and Robert Schumann on his first concert tour. This encounter was to change his life significantly. Robert Schumann announced him to the music world as a second Beethoven. A deep, lifelong and inspiring love developed between Clara Schumann and Brahms. But after Robert’s death, the young genius has to make a decision: Art or life?
